Coriander Seeds

Coriander, also known as Chinese parsley and often referred to as cilantro in its fresh form, is an annual herb in the family Apiaceae. It is widely used in world cuisines, and its seeds offer a unique lemony citrus flavor when ground. Described as warm, nutty, spicy, and orange-flavored, coriander seeds are essential in many spice blends like garam masala and are frequently used in Indian curries, often paired with cumin. They are also widely used in pickling vegetables and add depth to sausages, particularly in Germany and South Africa. In Russia and Central Europe, coriander seeds are sometimes used in rye bread, such as Borodinsky bread, as an alternative to caraway. Additionally, coriander seeds are a key ingredient in some Belgian wheat beers.
