Coriander Seeds

Coriander, also known as Chinese parsley and often called cilantro when fresh, is an annual herb in the Apiaceae family. It is widely used in cuisines around the world, and its seeds impart a unique lemony citrus flavor when ground. Described as warm, nutty, spicy, and orangey, coriander seeds are essential in many spice blends such as garam masala, and are often used in Indian curries, often combined with cumin. They are also widely used in vegetable marinades and to add depth to sausages, especially in Germany and South Africa. In Russia and Central Europe, coriander seeds are sometimes used in rye breads, such as Borodinsky bread, as an alternative to caraway. Coriander seeds are also a key ingredient in some Belgian wheat beers.
